Abstract EN

From the second half of the 13th century, the Aragonese began extending their influence over the western basin of the Mediterranean Sea.

This basin became a Lake of Aragonese, after the control of the Italian republics (Genoa, Pisa).

In addition to the trade relations that the Kingdom of Aragon associated with the Moroccan states (Hafsides, Ziyanides, Marinides), these countries saw the Aragon as the best ally to face the external threats that threatened its existence, as we have observed in our study of Aragonese- Ziyanides relations.
