Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight the reality of private equity activity in Algeria, and evaluate its effectiveness as an alternative financing mechanism for traditional financing to finance investment projects.

Through analysing the performance of companies practicing this activity during the period 2017-2020.

The study reached a number of results, the most important of which is that the private equity market in Algeria is still modest after three decades have passed since the establishment of the first company practicing the activity, due to many obstacles that prevent it from achieving the desired goal, including the lack of readiness of the Algerian financial market to receive this financing mechanism, ineffectiveness of the private equity market in Algeria, problems that face private equity campanies with campanies that have been financed which impeded the good management of their financial resources.

The study also concluded that investment loans and rental loans remain more attractive to Algerian investors attention than financing with private equity.
