Abstract EN

For five decades, European countries were able to create an integrated, balanced and strong European space at the regional and global levels, which had repercussions on the southern bank of the Mediterranean, especially the western ones represented by the Maghreb countries, which found themselves in a permanent confrontation with this space, trapped in its dictates as a European bloc that imposed itself as a model for integration and strength.

the study aims to highlight the most important stages of the establishment of the European space and its developments after the second world war, which resulted in a new global reality in which the European countries saw the need to move from the difficult reality to the establishment of a force through which it regains its lost position in front of the new global powers .this had repercussions on the Maghreb region, through the manifestations and challenges of development in it, as the latter remained linked to those countries on various political, economic and cultural levels, and in varying proportions according to the peculiarities of each country and the nature of the European occupation of it.

this is in light of the competition of the great powers over the region within the framework of political, security and economic dimensions that emerged from the post-cold war era.
