The main objective of the current study is to measure the deviation between the actual and indicative cropping patterns during the season (2011/2012).

Additionally, the efficiency of agricultural exploitation will be measured to find out the technical and economical efficiency of the actual and indicative cropping patterns according to available water resources.

The results of the study revealed that, the first stage was related to cereals in terms of relative importance about 49.3% and 47.9% of the total cropped area for the actual and indicative cropping patterns, respectively.

Whereas, the last stage was due to legumes with about 0.8% and 1.9% of the total cropped area for the actual and indicative cropping patterns, respectively.

The results also showed that, the actual cropped areas decreased with respect to the indicative cropped areas with about 5.8, 3.9%, and 11% and 5.8% for the old lands, new lands and the whole country, respectively.

Though, the results showed excellence in water consumption in case of soybean compared with sugar beet and sugar cane with a performance ratio of water consumption in each of them about 144%, 111.8%, 101%, respectively .

By measuring the economic efficiency that include the proportion of the cost of irrigation to total costs and variables costs.

where it was found that the garlic crop ranks first in irrigation costs per feddan for field crops winter reaching irrigation costs per feddan 435 pounds, as can be seen that the yield of sugar cane ranks first in irrigation costs per feddan for field crops where summer irrigation costs amounted to 959 pounds per feddan for the season (2011-2012).

The results of the study showed that the clover crop ranks first in pound profit for field crops winter reaching 7.8 pounds, as can be seen that the yield of peanuts crop ranks first in pound profit for field crops where summer reaching1.6 pounds for the season (2011-2012).

By measuring the technical efficiency show that the performance ratio in the productivity of the unit of water were estimated at about 3.43% of the sugar cane crop a maximum, but the minimum estimated at about 0.1 %,of the sunflower crop.

The second criterion of efficiency standards, a technical field irrigation efficiency has been shown that the highest efficiency was for the sugar beet crop 412.9%, was less efficient for faba bean crop, estimated at 82.2%.

The results of the study showed that the total amount of water used for some crops, indicative cropping patterns estimated at 33.6 billion m3 while the estimated amount of water used for the same crop to the actual cropping patterns about 28.9 billion m3 by the low for indicative cropping patterns about 4.7 billion m3.

And by allocation the difference in the amount of water used for crops, on some important strategic crops in an attempt to take advantage of irrigation water and the calculation of the actual economic returns.

Showing the economic return from the distribution of the amount of excess water on the most important strategic crops such as wheat, maize, faba bean, peanut oil crops as one, where it was found to increase the productivity of wheat crop of about 18.73 to about 27.13 ardebs / feddan increase by as much as about 8.4 ardebs / feddan, also show increasing productivity of maize crop of about 23.81 ardebs / feddan to about 30.09 ardebs / feddan increase by as much as about 6.28 ardebs / acre.

While showing an increase in the yield of faba bean from about 8.73 ardebs/ feddan to about 5.46 ardebs / feddan.

Finally, increasing the yield of peanuts from about 18:35 ardebs / feddan to about 21.77 ardebs / feddan increase by as much as about 3.42 ardebs / feddan.

As it turns out also increase the value of the wheat crop, maize, faba bean crop, the peanut crop, increased by as much as about 3175 pounds / acre in 1903 pounds / feddan 0.3915 pounds / acre 0.1905 pounds / feddan, respectively.The results showed that short clover/cotton crop rotation gained the highest net revenue per feddan and the highest net revenue per cubic meter whereas, that wheat/sorghum crop rotation ranked last in terms of net revenue per feddan and sugar beet/maize crop rotation ranked last in terms of net revenue per cubic meter.

According to these results, the study recommends the following: 1- Under the current time must be rationalizing the use of irrigation and work water users associations, On the other hand depend on modern techniques in irrigation.

2- When the increased proportion of actual indicative cropping patterns performance for indicative cropping patterns in agricultural production must calculate the economic efficiency of these crops to reach the optimum size that maximize profit and minimize costs.

3- Allocation the difference in the amount of water used for crops, on some important strategic crops in an attempt to take advantage of irrigation water and the calculation of the actual economic returns .

4- Build up a database for all statistics related to the the cropping pattern that ensure more accurate forecasting and predicting that helps policy makers.
