After the annexation of the province Mauritania Tingitna to the possessions of the Roman Empire, this latter took several military measures to ensure security and stability, as it established a distinct defensive system, embodied in particular by bringing in military units from wings and battalions, stationed in several camps built in various regions of the province of Tangitana, in parallel, they worked to establish a network of roads linking these camps and a set of watchtowers to facilitate the process of communication between them, protect the area, monitor the movements of the Mauri tribes and confront their strong attacks.

Archaeological researches, which concerned many areas of Mauritania Tangitana, proves the existence of many military testimonies that were able to identify the military units that flocked to the region during the early period of the Roman Empire (42AD-284AD).

The reasons for their presence were common, namely, the disturbances caused by the Mauritania Tangitana, who rejected all forms of Roman presence in the region.
