Abstract EN

The aim of this work is to address Sfax 'relationship with the sea through focusing on trade with the western and eastern basin of the Mediterranean during the modern period between 1705 and 1881.

It also shows the role sfax city in the economic progress of the Tunisian Eyala during important periods of its recent history.

The role of some economic actors in the revitalization of the commercial cycle of Sfax was also highlighted.

The most prominent of these is the Galouli family (a well-known family in the Tunisian country that played an important role in the history of Sfax, And Tunisia in general, both economically and politically.

Our goal, too, is not to introduce new data that will alter or radically alter the results that are in our hands.

What we wanted to do was simply poriding an explanatory view of some of the facts underlying the emergence of the city of Sfax as an important economic pole over many centuries.

We embodied this in the role of its economic actors in the development of the region during the modern era and their relationship with the most prominent symbols of authority embodied especially in Youssef Saheb Tabaa.

this study we tried to stand at three important points: first to highlight the importance of the economic city of Sfax during the recent period and its role in the economic mobility of the Tunisian Agency.

Second point we reviewed the most important economic actors of the city of Sfax and we tried to provide brief definitions for them.

Third point we dealt with is the relationship of The Family with Youssef Saheb Tabaa which was a one of economic and political exchange.
