Abstract EN

The study aimed at identify the prevailing citizenship values in the Algerian society in two main types of citizenship: active citizenship and citizen duty (traditional citizenship) according to the classification proposed by Dalton.

For this purpose, the researcher used the World Values Survey as a data collection, in its sixtieth edition (2010-2014) where the sample of study consisted of all Algerian respondents to the Survey, whose number reached at 1200 respondents.

The study found that Algerian society in general is considered low in both types of citizenship; active and citizen duty or traditional citizenship.

The results were explained and some recommendations were suggested for future research.
