Abstract EN

Theater is the best of arts since it reflects the society’s conditions and images.

It is said : ‘give me theater and i will give you literate people’’.

The algerian theater underwent several stages.

Before revolution, it was intrigued in expressing the people’s pain and misery.

During revolution the theater played a great role in defending the national movement and enphasizing on resisting colonization through waking Algerinas and raising their awarness about the neccessity of freedom and independence.

After the independence, the state was interested in nationalizing the national theater.

The exposed plays were devoted to honour the revolution and commemorate the martyrs,especially after the adoption of communism.

Then, theater was absent for a while due to the sensitive situation of the country.

However, it was capable to start over reflecting the social conditions.
