Abstract EN

This study addressed an important problem: social media and home lockdown between restriction and positioning.

The study main objective were first to measure the forms of impact of social networking sites during the lockdown period.

The second objective was to measure to what extent social networking sites might replace other real interactive spheres such as television channels and realistic social relations.

Besides, the study aims at investigating the relationship between the home lockdwon and the increase or decrease in the social media use.

Finally, the study envisaged the influence of social media on the degree of awareness and responsibility towards the pandemic of Corona virus.

The study revealed the following important results: it is hard to confirm that social media have permanently replaced other social spaces such as family, book or social relationships.

Most importantly, social networking sites proved unable to captivate people's attention to the covid -19 pandemic news compared with TV channels broadcast.

Another result was the strong impact of social networking sites on the psyche of those committed to the home lockdown, especially in shortening the feeling of the length of this lockdown.

Finally, the clear recognition that social media are of great importance in influencing our different lifestyles and that the near future will be for the predominance of these social networking sites.
