The Ottoman-Persian conflict, which lasted for several centuries, is an important topic in the history of international relations in the modern era, as the Safavid state, which ruled Persia between 1501 and 1736 AD, entered into a clash and competed with its Ottoman neighbors due to several factors and overlapping political, economic, sectarian and ethnic factors.

The first clash between the two powers was during the reign of Shah Ismail I 1501-1524 AD, and his son who was succeeded by Shah Tahmasp I 1524-1576, who continued his father's approach in the struggle with his adoption at times of the principle of peace and dialogue with the rival Ottoman neighbor.
