The Algerian family law has undergone several changes as a result of the reflection of the transformations that society is witnessing in its various intellectual, cultural, industrial, social and political fields and the international agreements ratified by Algeria, including CEDAW.

the scope of the Algerian legislator's dedication to the guarantees approved by the CEDAW agreement of 1979, the 2005 amendment came to embody the obligations guaranteed by the Algerian family legislation for the advancement of the family and women, represented by re-amending several texts of its articles, including article 54, where it made Khul' a way to break up the marital union in return for the will and equality of marriage the right to divorce that is at the will of the husband this amendment came in response to requests to end the oppression of women.
