This study seeks to showcase the development of Algerian cinema content in relation to the era of colonialism overall and the Algerian revolution in particular, as well as the coinciding political and economic contexts.

furthermore, it thoroughly examines the 3rd millennium, scrutinizing its content and cinematic properties through a critical viewpoint, and addressing a core research problem that is stated as follows : what is the nature of 3rd millennium cinema content that pertains to revolutionary film ? The study, via its implicit interpretation, revealed three cinematic models that represent the era.

from the sanctification of the revolution and the glorification of the people to a phase of showcasing the heroism of martyrs and symbols of the revolution, whilst allowing for Algerian-French cooperative works-these were deemed by critics and specialists as scornful to the revolution and destructive to its symbolism among the youth under the pretext of “historical facts”-and currently, the movie “Heliopolis” by film director djafargacem which is a straightforward condemnation of French colonial crimes prior to the revolution-a phase that is mostly neglected in Algerian cinema-and an iconographic document for the restitution of el-Gaiad and el-Aàyan (local governors and civil servants during the era of French colonialism).

Algerian cinema, therefore, experienced in-depth shifts in its view to several issues related to the era of colonialism in general and the revolution in particular.
