Abstract EN

During the ninth century AH (fifteenth century AD) Ottoman rulers in Algiers were under the realization that their city occupied a strategic location which was coveted by European, Spaniard and Christian occupiers.

It why they purposely surrounded it with countless forts in order to heavily monitor and surveil the area, as well as control its strategic entrances and exists.

The latter had military reinforcement through upright towers, which were sometimes used for surveillance and to bridge weaknesses on a building-level; and other times, they are used separately from these buildings, to reinforce access and surveillance, while providing them with weaponry and war reinforcement systemsin response to each attack.
