One of the most prominent local sources that spoke about Oran city liberation from the grip of the Spanish colonizer in 1791 is the book titled 'al-thaghar aljamani fi ibtisam al-thaghar el-ouahrani' written by Ahmed Ben Mohamed Ben Ali Ben Sahnoun Al-Rashidi.

This book is originally a reference in describing the liberation of the city Oran from Spaniards by the Bay 'Mohamed', the Bay of the Algerian west.

It was written in 1793AD, then published by the request of Mohamed Lekbir.

Besides, it( looks like eyewitness diary about the events of the conquest.

The writer started by introducing Mohamed Lekbir then he spoke about the relations that he had with the students who were in the city and their scientists, including the detailed events of the war.

After Entering the city, he described the destroy of the city after an earthquake in1790.

At the end, he spoke about the monuments that make this book one of the important books in Algerian Ottoman history.
