Abstract EN

This article aims to identify the rules and values elicited from Qaroun’s story in the Holy Qur’an, and the people’s need for these rules and values nowadays, namely those related to wealth, profusion of money, prohibition of thriftiness, snobbery and love of worldly affairs, those related to the obligation of advice, and finally those related to Allah’s justice and mercy on His people.

The study concludes with a number of findings, the most important of which are: Money is an ordeal that Allah tests His slaves.

Islam intellectuals and scientists should advice wealthy people and remind them always of Allah’s portion in their money, and of that of the poor.

They also should remind those who love wealthy people of looking at the reality of this worldly life and of that of the moneys, and that Allah’s reward is better for those who believe and act righteously.

Richness and poverty never mean that Allah is pleased or displeased with someone; rather they are an ordeal from Allah to test His slaves, and see who is thankful and who is not, who shows patience with ordeal and who does not, and Allah’s reward for all that comes afterwards.
