Security and safety represent an essential value for the institution of a stablecivil society، due to that importance، fortification in general and walls، in particular، are among the civilizational criteria that distinguish it from others.

Building walls andother fortifications، such as towers، forts، and castles، are the Islamic projects that usedto protect the people property and their families.

And classified it among the necessaryconstruction، particularly if the urgent need to utilize it to defend the sanctuaries، andthis was realized by those who in charge of the administration of Samarra city، that iswhy Samarra city surrounded by a wall that protects and secures it، and to maintainits sanctities and people، although the architecture of this wall evolved from time totime and it is closely connected to the development of defence and attack techniques، these methods also organize the obstacles between attackers and defenders to preventattackers from moving forward and at the same time enable the defenders to attack theassailants with a barrage of their projectiles.

Based on these evolutions in the art of building the walls، this research shedslight on the beginnings of building the wall of Samarra city، It highlights the buildingroles، renovations، and reforms that the wall of Samarra city went through.

This researchalso includes all the architectural details that will develop the fortification techniquesof the city، as well as the concentration on all Military architectural elements، whichshares its work with the structure of the fence، towers، sliders، laps، and so on
