Abstract EN

This article aims to study Yemenis’ role in managing the states and cities in the Umayyad period (41AH - 132AH / 661AD - 750AD), as it is the most important duties of the state, and one of the main pillars on which states are based.

managing these states and cities in the best way possible means the survival of the state and the continuation of its vitality.

however, weak performance in managing the states and cities means the weakness and end of the state.

the study tackles the names of the governors and workers belonging in Yemen in various parts of the Islamic state, as the state in the Umayyad period included a number of peoples and races.

through studying their role, Yemenis' contributions in building the state, their serious attempts to develop it, and the consequent results in various fields in general, and in the political field in particular, are demonstrated.

some Yemeni governors contributed to the conquest of countries during their tenure.

this in turn led to the expansion of the Islamic state in the Umayyad period.

the governors’ policy revolved around achieving security and stability, as they devoted their efforts to take care of Muslims' interests.

this does not mean that the governors were following a single pattern of proper behavior.

but rather, some of them did not behave properly, and hence brought resentment on the state, and caused it to lose large areas that were under its control.
