Abstract EN

This study deals with small scalc industries in Saudi Arabia because of their important role in broadening and diversifying production and their contribution toward achieving the mam goals of economic development.

This study has shown that the spatial distribution of small size industries doesn’t follow, to a great extent, the general trend of distribution of other industries in the kingdom.

The small scale industries rely, most of the time, on production inputs and raw materials that are available locally which integrate them more with the national economy than the large scale industries.

The products of small scale industries are marketed locally as they were established to meet the local demand.

Small size industries possess many characteristics which enable them to play an important role in the industrial development in Saudi Arabia.

Because of this the study of small size industries is increasingly important in developing and developed countries.

This study emphasizes the analysis of problems and obstacles facing such industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Finally, Saudi Arabia had taken many steps toward supporting those industries and granting them the proper incentives within strategic plans that make them the main pillars for developing industry in Saudi Arabia It has been observed lately that those industries represent 62% of the industrial establisliments in Saudi Arabia.
