Abstract EN

The study aimed at shed light on the oil shale and gas shale resources in Libya, which are new resources that have been proven through modern technologies to be exploitable under certain environmental and economic condition.

these resources are added to the country oil and gas wealth to raise Libya position regionally and globally.

its fold are an interesting geopolitical feature, which is the trend of geographical distribution pattern of oil and gas resources due to oil and shale gas discoveries to spread in new regions of the country especially in western and southern regions (Tripoli and Fezzan regions).

this feature, which proved the validity of hypothesis of the study reduced the concentration of these resources in cyrenaica region in the east of the country.

By finding the best ways to extract these resources and produce it in a sustainable manner and away that does not harm the components of water and soil, which are vital to local population and these rare components are very sensitive to environmental changes and therefore should not be underestimated and replaced with unsustainable economic benefits.
