This paper addresses one of the most important topics in international relations, which is the water problem in the Arab region especially after 2019Demand for water in the region is constantly increasing.

This is due to the combination of rapid population growth and a steady social and economic development and the climate change that is incommensurable with existing natural water resources.

It is therefore easy to overexploit and pollute the waters at the expense of coming generations.

Water disputes in the region are hindering effective water use as well as fuelling political flames that have already been lit This makes cooperation between the countries of the region an important matter and a prerequisite for avoiding humanitarian disasters This is what the article tried to study, by taking the problem of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers between Iraq, Syria and Turkey as a case study to conclude that the national interest of a country forces it to choose the path of cooperation and activate it with mechanisms being the only way to obtain gains, whether relative or olute, unlike the conflict
