Abstract EN

This paper discusses the multi-ethnic nature of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its impact on the path of nation-building, beginning with the identification of the concepts of ethnic pluralism and nation-building, and then its uniqueness in the analysis of the reality of ethnic differences and the conflict between them and its impact on the path of nation-building.

Finally, mechanisms and policies for the management of multi-ethnic pluralism for the building of a national State have been identified.

The paper concluded that ethnic diversity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was an important factor in State building, through politicization of ethnic diversity, ethnic manipulation by the existing regimes, and that the desired change in the Congo was in the context of societal divisions and conflict over power and resources.

It must begin with the talk of reform rather than change, because the reality of the community structure of the Democratic Congo does not allow radical change but gradual reform.

State-building will not be reflected unless leadership is emerging that can redefine a social contract by activating mechanisms for open and sustained dialog with the Congolese masses toward the integration of their real needs into appropriate programs and policies and their effective implementation.
