Abstract EN

The current research aims at identifying the relationship between hopelessness and both self-compassion and college adjust- ment, as well as verifying the predictability of hopelessness through self-compassion and college adjuQment among Community Service and Continuing Education Deanship Students at Jazan University.

The sample consisted of (211) male and female Students at Com- munity Service and Continuing Education Deanship at Jazan Uni- versity.

Beck Hopelessness Scale (Beck et al., 1874), Self-Compas- Sion Scale (Neff, 2003a) and College Adjustment Test (Pennebaker, 2013) were administered to the sample.

The results of the Study showed that there was a Statistically significant negative correlation between hopelessness and self-compassion.

Additionally, there was a Qatiélically significant negative correlation between hopelessness and college adjustment (negative effect, domestic morbidity, total score).

However, there was no correlation between hopelessness and "positive effect" dimension.

Results also concluded that the total score of self-compassion and college adjustment (negative effect dimension) were the most independent factors contributing in hope- lessness prediction.
