This study, entitled "Language borrowing from Arabic to English", aims at clarifying the concept of borrowing in general and clarifying the impact of Arabic on English in particular.
And how Arabic influenced the English language! with examples of Arabic words borrowed in English.
Has there been a change in the sound or meaning in these words? Through this study, the researcher found that many words moved to English, and most of these words moved during the Islamic conquests of Spain, Sicily, Constantinople and others.
The most borrowed words were in the fields of religion and science (chemistry, physics, medicine, astronomy, plants, etc.).
Some of these Arabic words moved to English without changing the sounds and meaning, and some of them changed their voices without changing their meaning.
This change of voice is often required by the English language in accordance with the rules of sound, and some words have narrowed the significance, and some of the expansion of the meaning.
The methodology used in this research is descriptive and inductive method, where the researcher study the Arabic words borrowed by the English language, and rooting Arabism, and how to enter the English language, and analysis of these words voice and evidence, taken from the resource dictionary Munir Al-Baalbaki as a model.
