Abstract EN

Until the middle of the last century, Saudi society was self-closed.

however, the rapid developments in technology and social media change the Saudi society and affecting the values of adolescents.

the research aimed to : identify the reality of the virtuous as well as the corrupt values of adolescents who use social media and reveal the requirements for developing values in light of a proposed future vision.

Methods : this descriptive research used a snowball sample of (300) adolescents (male and female), and (25) experts.

results : the results confirmed that the reality of virtuous values among adolescents is in the middle level, with an arithmetic mean of (18.35) and a standard deviation of (7.0007).

it also found that the reality of corrupt values is at an average level, with an arithmetic mean of (18.12) and a standard deviation of (6.830), which reflects the need to develop virtuous values for adolescents and emphasis on avoiding corrupt values so that they can benefit from the positives of social media and avoid its negatives.

in addition, the research found that the requirements for developing values among adolescents who use social media are at the high level, with an arithmetic mean of (24.71) and a standard deviation of (6.710).

this reflects the need for adolescents to activate them to develop their values in terms of commitment to virtuousness, avoiding corrupt ones, and their willingness to do so.

to conclude : at the age of information revolution and its ease of use, it hugely affected the values of adolescents of both genders.

so, to reduce these effects, the research suggests a future vision to develop adolescents’ values system benefiting from the requirements tested by the research and creates solutions of problems that they face, recommend activating family and community roles to help parents, educators and specialists to reduce the negative effects of social media on adolescents and encourage them to adopt positive virtuous values.
