Abstract EN
The author introduces his topic by stating that man survives by interacting with, and manipulating his environment.
This interaction results usually in linguistic, literary and material creations which reflect man’s image of himself and his environment.
Such creations are of great value to the nations concerned.
The author then proceeds to survey cases of cultural theft from Third World countries, and expresses the opinion that all such stolen cultural heritage items should be returned to their rightful owners, in order to serve as basis for cultural revival in these countries.
Actually steps have been taken by different international organizations including the UNESCO and an agreemen was signed in 1970 to the effect that all cultural items removed from their countries of origin should be returned.
