Abstract EN

This research mainly aimed to identify the knowledge of the respondents’ farmers about the causes of strawberry crop losses in the new lands in Beheira Governorate, which can be achieved through the following sub-objectives: identifying some personal, social, economic and communication characteristics of the respondents, identifying the respondents’ knowledge of the causes of productive loss on the strawberry crop from their point of view, identifying the respondents’ knowledge of the causes of marketing losses in the strawberry crop from their point of view, identifying the respondents’ knowledge of the causes of specific losses in the strawberry crop from their point of view, determining the correlational and regression relationships between the respondents’ knowledge of the causes of strawberry crop losses and some independent variables studied, and identifying the respondents’ proposals to overcome the causes of strawberry crop losses from their point of view.

The research results showed that: (87.1%) of the farmers surveyed have a low and medium degree of knowledge of the reasons for the loss of the strawberry crop, that (90.8%) of the farmers surveyed have a degree of low and medium knowledge of the causes of the productive loss in the strawberry crop, that (90.4%) of the farmers surveyed have a degree of knowledge low and medium reasons for marketing losses in the strawberry crop, that (95%) of the farmers surveyed had a low and medium degree of knowledge of the reasons for specific losses in the strawberry crop.

It was possible to list the most important proposals mentioned by the respondents to overcome the causes of losses in the strawberry crop, which were arranged in descending order from the viewpoint of the farmers surveyed as follows: activating the role of marketing guidance by 85.8%, providing seedlings from a reliable source by 83.3%, providing improved varieties of The yield increased by 80%, the provision of trained labor by 75%, and the interest in fighting diseases or pests by 75%.
