Abstract EN

This study aimed at determining how listening skills are actually taught in English Language class, and how this impacts the overall performance of high school students in the Governorate of Aden High Schools, and the ways in which the methodology of teaching these skills can be improved.

The study sample comprised (14) male and female 12th grade secondary school teachers, in addition to (161) male and female high school students (scientific section) in the 12th and final year-of high school education (in both the model and regular schools)in Aden governorate for the academic year(2013-2014).

In order to achieve this goal, the - That English language teachers should follow procedures and teaching methods suggested in the text-book teaching guides regarding Listening Comprehension.

- That the Ministry of Education should provide teachers and students with a suitable classroom environment for teaching and learning English Language in general and for teaching and learning listening skills in particular.
