Abstract EN

The primary problem of the present study was represented in knowing the economic and social determinants leading elderly to participate in labor market after arriving compulsoryretirement age and knowing did social roles and status differ with age structure , knowing the most important problems in which elderly confront during their work and knowing do they expose during their work to any form of discrimination and exploitation in order to reach suggestions enhancing the concept of effective ageing as a method of life , social integration and physical welfare .

The study in it's theoretical orientation depended on role theory.

The present study is considered one of the descriptive analytical studies.

It depended on the quantitative analysis by using the method of case study and it also depended on the interview as a basic tool in collecting data .The field study was applied on ten cases of elderly working after retirement age at Minia city.

The field study revealed several findings, the most important ones are: -The economic factor even it isn't the only one for elderly share in labor market, but it is no longer the basic one, since the value of the retirement pension isn't suffice to meet the basic requirements and provide a good life after the retirement particularly for elderly who still support children in various education stages and they haven't savings that guarantee a good life after reaching retirement age .

-Retirement may cause for elderly isolation and withdrawal from sharing in social activities, lead to their feel of isolation and depression and influence their health and psychological state, leading them to participate in labor market again as an attempt to find alternatives for social roles in which they lost by the retirement that contribute greatly in maintaining their mental and health state and help integration and adaptation again with society.

-Field data revealed that the most important problems that elderly expose are represented in the existence of discrimination based upon the age and exploit elderly need for work, so they are functioned with little wages and long work hours that deprive elderly from social welfare opportunities.
