The study aims to reveal the extremist thought in the Umayyad period(aleasr al'umawia) and the reasons for its emergence, and the role of literature, especially poetry, in stoking it and expressing it.

The study reviewed the extremist ideology of the Shiite sects and outsiders, their effects on Islamic literature and society, and the major social and humanitarian imbalances that resulted from their delinquency, affecting the course of the Islamic state.

The study used the analytical method to highlight the role of poetry in expressing all political and extremist movements in the Umayyad era, and the most important results were represented in the role of Umayyad poetry in expressing all ideas and sects in its society.
