Abstract EN

The present study mainly aimed to explore the correlation between social networking sites and the social value system of youth.

The study made use of the descriptive method, and its population were students from King Abdul Aziz University, Department of Arts and Sciences.

The total number of the males and females was 1256, of which 600 male and 656 female students.

The results of the study revealed that the social networking sites contributed largely to enhancing the values of responsibility, cooperation, loyalty and volunteering among young people in the light of the responses of the study sample individuals.

Social networking sites have become a reality in the modern world today, and they cannot be ignored.

Added to that, social networking sites negatively affect society when they are used excessively for very long times.

Such negative effect of social networking sites can be confronted by adopting national strategies that transmit positive ethical values in relation to the social networking sites themselves, and raising the values within the souls of young people.

Furthermore, the positive effects produced by the social networking sites could be invested and youth might be motivated to benefit from them and spread their personal experiences when working on the social networking sites so that everyone can benefit from them
