Abstract EN

In this study, we talked about the use of social networks sites by students in Algerian high schools.

The sample of the study consisted of (593 students/e) who are in the third year, distributed among four sections /divisions in the academic season 2018/2019 in the Wilaya of Setif.

The study concluded that 97,43% of the students have personal smartphones and social networking sites, which are used by 19.74% of the students at an average of 2 hours per day, and 12.04% of the students who use it at an average of 8 hours per day.

And 2,57% of students do not have a personal smartphone.

The study also showed that there are differences in the average daily time used in social networks due to gender in favor of males (daily and at the end of the week and also in the educational institution).

On the other hand we find that the students of the Experimental Sciences Division are the least used compared to the rest of the studied divisions.

The study ended with recommendations, most notably the need to exploit technological tools in education.
