Abstract EN

Apology is one of the purposes of pre-Islamic poetry, and it appeared at an early period of it.

Amr ibn Qumayah, who is considered as one of the first preIslamic poets, apologized, so this door was opened to other poets, such as Adi bin Zaid Al-Abadi and Al-Nabigha al-Thaibani.

The pre-Islamic poets transmitted this art in different ways which called for a study to their purpose, highlighting its developmental state, and using the psychological method to present the features of the development of the art of apology, and to analyze apologetic poetry accordingly.

The study concluded that this purpose bore the features of the desert in terms of cruelty, and this was shown in the poetry of Amr bin Qameya, then it developed and carried the meanings of softness and its images according to Adi bin Zaid, then Al-Nabigha took a civilized form influenced by the images and meanings of Adi bin Zaid's apologies
