Abstract EN

The first part of this research reads into a three of Palestinian novels published before Oslo agreement was signed, "Umm Saad" by Ghassan Kanafani, "The Lovers" by Rashad Abu Shawar, and "Anthem of Life" by Yehia Khalaf.

The study tracks in these stories the representation of the refugee camp during the period of the ascending revolutionary rhetoric.

The second part of the research allocates the transformation of the refugee camp representation in two novels published after the agreement was signed, “Sky Water” by Yahya Khalaf and “Velvet” by Huzama Habayeb, and it appoints in them the fall of the revolutionary rhetoric through following the appearance of a set of distinctive features, such as: the deviation in the representation of the fighters' tent towards the indulgence of representing the meticulous details of life inside the tent/home, the favoring of the mundane that is usually passed without being noticed, the documenting of the lives of non-fighters who managed to face the cunning history by simply remaining alive, and the deconstruction of the collective emotions fed by symbols that create a desired collective consciousness.
