Abstract EN

This study aims at revealing the position of the literary critics and historians from the poetry of the Andalusian women.

Many of those critics and historians have undervalued the women’s poetry for no reason other than that it was written by women.

This study tries to focus on the background of this phenomenon, and explains the social and cultural reasons standing behind such judgments.

It seeks also to find out any possible differences between the literary critics and the literary historians over this issue.

A major question of this study is the function of poetry which poetesses sought by writing their poems, was it to enhance and defend the social and cultural realities of their society, or to defend their own beliefs and rights.

The researchers followed in this paper different methodologies such as the descriptive, analytical methodology, and the methodology of cultural criticism
