Travelogue has tremendously contributed in supplying diverse disciplines with very valuable knowledge.

Similarly, historical studies have as well benefited from this flow of information where travelers, through their rich corpora, have faithfully rendered the locations of roads, human dwellings, modes of life, customs and values, artefacts and arts.

This bulk of information amounted to the emergence of ethnography, dealing with human communities through ages; ethnology, which is concerned with analyzing the findings of ethnography.

This research attempted to identify the different types of travels, their importance in as much they constitute specific historical references.

It is also interested in revealing the connection holding between travels and ethnography.
