The subject of military architecture in Mauritania Tangitana is one of the topics that have not yet received the attention it deserves by scholars.

This is despite the fact that it shows to a large extent the main role of the military apparatus, and highlights its contribution to the control of the Roman settlement in this province.

The Volubilis region is an important area of this province, strongly defended by the Romans for its strategic location and also its economic importance.

Where they worked to build a group of camps, known wide spread and regular distribution, linked by a group of watchtowers, in order to protect the area and monitor the movements of the Mauri tribes and confront their strong attacks.
