The main objective of the study is to identify the reality of trade openness in Algeria, and its impact on economic growth during the period between 1980-2018, as well as trying to determine the percentage of the contribution of the shock of trade openness, measured by total exports and imports of goods and services to GDP in real terms, in interpreting The change that occurs in economic growth, by using of vector auto regression (VAR), and the study found that the impact of the shock of trade openness on economic growth is weak, as trade openness did not achieve a continuous positive impact, and thus the contribution of trade openness to economic growth is weak.
