Abstract EN

A closer look into the Andalusian and Moroccan writings, both the literary and historical treatises that go back to that era, reveals the unmistakable passion and keen interest of their men to keep a record of their history and literature as far as the capabilities of that time allow.

This unique inclination towards recordation led to a great number of writings, a matter that can be also attributed to the scientific development Andalusia witnessed at the time and the coexistence exercised between its different tribes, sects and religions, and the degree of freedom of thought tolerated.

Some of the techiques Andalusians employed in maintaining their artistic and scientific production were: scheduling, cataloguing, entering..etc.

In spite of the literary and historical significance of these writings, either they came in the form of memoirs or autobiographies or any other form, they received only little attention from scholars and researchers.

Thus, this study attempts to fill this gap partly by examing the epistemological and historical aspects in the Andalusian and Morrocan writings as reflected in two important works; namely "barnamaj shuyukh Al-Hafiz Al-Ra’ini Al-Eshbili " by Ali Al-Ra’ini (d.

666 AH) and " alfawayid aljimat fi 'iisnad eulum al'uma" by Abu Zaid Abdul Rahman Al-Tamnarty (d.

1060AH).
