The teacher’s professional empowerment is one of the most important modern strategies to develop and improve the educational process.

The study aimed to identify the degree of professional empowerment of teachers in secondary schools for boys in general education schools in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, understand the obstacles to professional empowerment, and present a proposed strategy for professional empowerment of teachers.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive approach was used through the survey method.

The sample consisted of (575) teachers, representing (25%) of the study population.

A questionnaire was designed to find out the degree of professional empowerment of the teacher and its obstacles from their point of view.

The study found that the degree of vocational empowerment of the teacher in secondary schools for boys in Riyadh is “low,” having a mean of 2.21 with a percentage of 44.2%.

The study also found that the obstacles dwarfing the teacher’s empowerment are tremendous, having a general mean of 3.93.

The study presented a proposed strategy for the professional empowerment of the teacher and calls for the Ministry of Education to adopt the strategy to improve teacher performance and the educational process.
