This research handles the phenomenon of metaphor in the lexicon of Matn al-Lugha by al-Aamli.

Metaphor is a living image of the life of words and utterances.

It reflects the nature and development of language as a form of linguistic evolution.

The author paid much attention to metaphor in his lexicon; he sheds light on the multiple metaphorical uses of certain words and expressions.

This paper explores the impact of metaphors on Arabic through the lexicon of Matn al-Lugha.

The paper focuses on the relationship between metaphors and semantic development.

It also aims to identify the impact of the current study and the like on compiling a historical dictionary.

The study will also reveal the relevance of the lexicon to the aspired historical dictionary of Arabic.
