Abstract EN

This research tries to identify the most common and less common verbs in Surat Al- Baqarah, and how they could be incorporated into the Arabic language materials to teach non-native speakers.

It aims to facilitate teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, and to benefit authors and designers of Arabic books and curricula; as it helps them to develop suitable materials.

The research adopts a descriptive- analytical approach, and it uses percentage and statistical analysis.

The following are some of the findings; 1-The most common verbs are past tense verbs in the active voice, the five verbs, and present tense verbs in the indicative mode.

Their prevalence rate was approximately 72%.

2-The common verbs are imperative verbs, past tense verbs, the present tense verb in the jussive mode, present tense verbs in the subjunctive mode, and past tense verbs in the passive voice.

Their prevalence rate was approximately 26%.

3-The least common verbs are past tense defective verbs, present tense indeclinable verb, and future tense verb.

Their prevalence rate was approximately 2%.

Building a proposed conception to include common verbs in the curricula for teaching Arabic grammar to teach non-native speakers.

In light of these results, the researcher presented a set of recommendations and suggestions: Therefore, the most common verbs can be introduced to learners in level 1, and the common verbs can be introduced to learners in level 2.

The least common verbs should be delayed as they are least frequently repeated in Surat Al- Baqarah.
