Abstract EN

Many countries have been quick in passing a consumer protection law as it is portrayed as a law that complements the penal code in order to provide legal protections to the consumer, who is considered as the weaker parties in contractual relationships with producers.

in its modern approach, the Omani legislator has adopted the issue of juristic personhood criminally in article 21 of the new penal code.

the sultanate has also promulgated the consumer protection law in order to provide legal protections to the consumer, as well as issuing the protection of competition and the prevention of monopoly law.

the importance of this research comes from the fact that it sheds light on the subject of the criminal responsibility of the juristic persons as this topic is rarely researched in the Omani legal arena.

the issue becomes more important when we deal with a delicate topic such as the criminal liability of the juristic person in the field of consumer protection and the natural persons responsible for this juristic person.

we pose two important questions ; what is the criminal responsibility of the juristic person in crimes related to consumer protection? and what is the responsibility of the natural person responsible for that juristic person? the research reaches the conclusions and recommendations through an analytical descriptive approach, in addition to adopting a comparative approach by comparing the texts of Omani laws related to the subject of criminal responsibility of the juristic person and the texts contained in some Arab and international laws.
