Abstract EN

One of the most interesting linguistic phenomena in Arabic that requires attention is the use of terms for body parts to express meanings in other lexical fields.

The study at hand focuses on body parts terms such as: ra's "head", hāmah "vertex", and also terms such as ist "anus", 'aḏnāb "tails", that are used to refer to social rankings.

The question that this study is trying to tackle is: have these words arisen by mere chance, or are they the result of a general trend in this field? The answer requires conducting surveys and statistics to explore the effect of the of the body parts lexicon in the field of social hierarchy and rankings.
