Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify experiment of the Saudi Association of Special Education (GESTER) in 2019 on integrating people with disabilities into the local community in the region of Hail.

It was qualitative research in which data were collected by semi-structured interviews with nine GESTER members from the Hail region.

The results of the study showed that community partnerships and proper conduct of activities are among challenges that faced the association to integrate people with disabilities into the local community.

Such challenges and obstacles were overcome through diversity of the work team’s experiences, their capacity for teamwork, establishment of community partnerships and access to material support which led to have success in integrating people with disabilities into the community in all activities that suit their personal capabilities.

The study recommended educating society and people with disabilities about the importance of activities that contribute to the integration of this group into the local community.

It also recommended cooperating government sectors with private agencies and specialized associations in establishing community partnerships that serve this group.
