Abstract EN

The present study is a reading of the poem "Joseph's Shirts" by the Lebanese poet (Shawqi Bazi') from the collection "All My Glory is that I Tried", and deals with the semantic structures and implicit cultural patterns that Bazi' included heavily in the poetic discourse.

The research adopts the cultural approach for its flexibility and openness to the other.

There are two aspects to the study: theoretical and practical.

The first is based on the concepts of approach and intertextuality, while the second is based on three topics: the voice of the poet and his role in directing Joseph’s relationship with the other (his brothers), the voice of Joseph's self and its relationship with the other (the woman is Zulekha), and the poet’s voice and his role in directing the relationship of the other (Joseph’s father) with the self, Joseph.

The thesis ends with conclusions, the most important of which are that the poet was able to transmit his controversial ideas and philosophical views through the poem and he used intertextuality, mask and flashback and employed them in order to reach deep connotations sometimes characterized by ambiguity.
