The excessive consumption of land by urban sprawl poses an exceptional challenge to sustainable development; this article proposes to have a reading of different strategies of land use, its effects on the dimensions of durability.
As a case for analysis, we take M'daourouch.
This article is structured around a morphological approach that tries to highlight a presentation of the space case, an analysis of the indicators of space consumption, the dynamics of urban sprawl, and finally, the ways to combat these negative consequences on the sustainability.

La consommation excessive du foncier par l'étalement urbain pose un défi exceptionnel au développement durable, cet article se propose d'avoir une lecture des différentes stratégies de consommation des sols par l'étalement urbain et ses effets sur les dimensions de durabilité.
Nous prenons comme exemple la commune de M'daourouch qui se situe à l'est d'Algérie.
Cet article est structuré autour d'une approche morphologique qui tente de mettre en exergue une présentation de l'espace d'enquête, une analyse des indicateurs de consommation foncière, les dynamiques de l'étalement urbain et finalement par des pistes de réflexions pour lutter contre ces conséquences négatives sur la durabilité.
