Abstract EN

There has been a lot of controversy about the impact of weather factors on the spread of the Corona virus, there are those who emphasized that the virus lives and multiplies in cold regions and seasons, and there are those who denied this.

This study tried to contribute to enriching this scientific debate by employing appropriate statistical and econometric methods to study the effect of: temperature, humidity and wind speed in the spread of this virus, during the period from April 01, 2020 to November 30, 2020, for a sample consisting of five Algerian states.

After selecting the appropriate panel model and estimating its parameters, it was found that there is no statistically significant effect of weather factors on the number of new Coronavirus infections in Algeria.

Therefore, we should not rely on such factors in predicting the development of this pandemic, but rather preventive measures and precautionary health measures must be taken to limit the spread of this virus.
