English Abstract

The current study aimed to get acquainted with the concept of cognitive dissonance and its relationship to psychological compatibility among students of the University of Muta، and to achieve the goals of the study، two measures were developed، one of which is cognitive dissonance and consists of (32) items and the other to measure psychological compatibility and consists of (37) items، the study sample consisted of (800) students And students from Mutah University students in Jordan for the academic year 2019/2020.

The results showed that the level of cognitive dissonance was rated poorly، with a mean of (2.17) and a standard deviation of (0.46) ، and that the level of psychological agreement was a medium estimate، with a mean of (3.65) and a standard deviation of (0.59).

There are statistically significant differences attributable to sex in the concept of cognitive dissonance and in favor of males، and there are statistically significant differences attributed to the college in the concept of cognitive dissonance and in favor of human faculties، and there are no statistically significant differences at the level of (α ≤ 0.05) in cognitive dissonance attributable to the variable of academic level.

The results showed that there are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) in psychological compatibility due to gender، and there are statistically significant differences attributable to the faculty in the concept of psychological compatibility and in favor of human faculties، and there are no statistically significant differences at the level of (α 0.05).

In the psychological adjustment due to the variable of the academic level.

A negative correlation (-0.640 **) was found to have a statistically significant mean for the answers of the study sample individuals between cognitive dissonance and psychological compatibility.

The presence of a statistically significant effect of cognitive dissonance among Mutah University students on their psychological compatibility، and it was explained what percentage (0.41) of the total variance in the level of psychological compatibility among Mutah University students is good and this ratio is good and has an effect.
