During the fourth century AH, the Middle Maghreb witnessed a strong conflict between the Fatimids and their allies from the Katamites, then the Zirids, and the allies of the Umayyads in Andalusia from the Zenata tribes and others, a number of which adopted the Ibadi sect.

The Ibadi Berber tribes to the Umayyad court in Andalusia, and these tribes played prominent roles in the political and military levels, and this contributed to the confinement of the Ibadi sect in the country of the Zab and a number of cities in the central Maghreb.
