Juvenile delinquency is one of the abnormal behaviors that threaten the security of the individual, the family and society, and this phenomenon has spread to different countries of the world, and Algeria has in turn witnessed the exacerbation of this phenomenon in his sons, and it became necessary to study it in depth, to understand its causes in order to face it and reduce it.

this article has therefore come to examine what juvenile delinquency is in terms of definition, and the most important theories which explain it, as well as the factors which lead to it, and its types, by highlighting the personality traits of the delinquent and its different manifestations, and by determining the criteria for diagnosing delinquency and its prevalence in Algeria.
